Two of my favorite movies are Rudy and Jingle All the Way. We have three girls Miriam, Evie, and Naomi. Sara and I started dating our senior year of high school (2000) and have been married since 2008. I am still shocked that I get paid to do this everyday. An important part of my work is to dream about where we are headed as a community of faith. My job as Senior Pastor is to preach, teach, and represent our church in a variety of public settings.

While I am proud to be an Eagle (Emory) and a Bear (Mercer), I am without question a Dawg at heart. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from the University of Georgia (2005), a Master of Divinity from Emory University (2008), and a Doctor of Ministry from Mercer University (2019). I became the Senior Pastor at FBC on April 16, 2017, which was Easter Sunday that year. A skill evaluation is completed mid-year to measure the growth of the child. Conferences are held in the fall and winter as a means of discussing each child’s progress as well as continuing open communication between teachers and parents. Students’ skills are monitored throughout the year.Lesson plans include Bible stories and verse memorization.Socialization is addressed through outside play time and informal classroom experiences.Music is incorporated in the classroom and also taught by a music teacher once a week.Science and Social Studies standards are taught through thematic units throughout the year.Math follows Georgia standards and is taught through a hands-on approach to teaching number concepts giving students a concrete understanding of numbers and of comparative relationships.All language arts, including phonics and reading are taught through the curriculum.An appreciation for music and drama is also experienced through music classes, a Christmas program, Kindergarten graduation presentation and field trips taken throughout the year. There is a balance of curriculum, hands-on learning, and teacher directed activities and small group activities. Students learn to build critical thinking skills that promote social and emotional confidence for a lifetime of learning. Teacher directed lesson plans, following Georgia standards, are designed to meet the mission of our kindergarten.
